Description

This baked cottage cheese lasagna is a delicious and nutritious twist on the classic comfort dish. Made with high-protein cottage cheese, marinara sauce, ground beef, and melty mozzarella, it’s perfect for family dinners, meal prep, or feeding a crowd. Whether you’re looking for a healthy lasagna recipe, a high-protein dinner idea, or a cozy baked pasta, this lasagna delivers bold flavor with a light touch.

Ingredients

12 lasagna noodles

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 small yellow onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 cups marinara sauce

2 cups cottage cheese

1 large egg

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Boil lasagna noodles until al dente, drain, and lay them flat to prevent sticking.

2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and cook the onion until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

3. Add ground beef or turkey and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

4. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes on low heat.

5. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese with the beaten egg, Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella.

6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.

7. Layer noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, and repeat. End with noodles, sauce, and remaining mozzarella on top.

8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

9. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

10. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use full-fat small curd cottage cheese for the creamiest texture.

Let the lasagna rest before cutting to keep the layers neat.

You can substitute beef with mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
