Description

These Banana Bars with Salted Caramel Frosting are moist, rich dessert bars packed with ripe banana flavor and topped with a luscious salted caramel frosting. Perfect for potlucks, gatherings, or a cozy treat, this easy banana dessert is the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1/2 cup melted butter

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.

3. Add the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.

4. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just incorporated. Do not overmix.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before frosting.

8. For the frosting, melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbling.

9. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.

10. Whisk in powdered sugar and sea salt until smooth and creamy.

11. Spread the salted caramel frosting over the cooled banana bars.

12. Let frosting set before slicing into squares.

Notes

Make sure bananas are very ripe with brown spots for the best flavor.

Do not overmix the batter to keep the bars soft and moist.

Frost only when bars are fully cooled to avoid melting the caramel.
