1 small onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 teaspoon black pepper
4 to 6 soft sandwich buns
Instructions

2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
3. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
4. Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
5. Let the mixture simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
6. Lightly toast sandwich buns until golden.
7. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each bun and serve warm.
Notes
Save leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
Adjust sweetness and spice levels to taste by adding more sugar or chili powder.
For a smoky twist, add a splash of BBQ sauce or smoked paprika.
