Description

This Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots recipe features tender carrots coated in a buttery, sweet brown sugar glaze with a hint of cinnamon. The perfect easy vegetable side dish for holidays or weeknight dinners. Great with roasted meats or creamy mains.

Ingredients

1 lb carrots

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup water

Instructions

1. Wash and peel the carrots if using whole ones, then slice them evenly into coins or sticks. If using baby carrots, simply rinse them.

2. In a skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and bubbling.

3. Add the carrots and water to the pan, stirring to coat. Cover and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until carrots are fork-tender, stirring occasionally.

4. Remove the lid and increase heat slightly to let the glaze reduce and thicken, about 2 to 3 minutes.

5. Serve warm and enjoy the glossy, sweet carrots.

Notes

This recipe serves 4 as a side.

Add a pinch of nutmeg or maple syrup for flavor variety.

Use baby carrots for a no-peel, time-saving option.
