Ingredients
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk (or chai-steeped milk)
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
¾ teaspoon ground cardamom
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans or a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and all chai spices.
5. Alternate adding the dry mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry. Mix just until combined.
6. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan(s).
7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
8. Let cool completely before frosting or serving.

You can steep your chai tea in milk for a stronger flavor.
