Description
This Classic Watergate Salad is a retro no-bake dessert made with pistachio pudding, crushed pineapple, marshmallows, and whipped topping. Perfect for potlucks, holidays, or quick sweet cravings, this fluffy green salad is creamy, fruity, and irresistibly nostalgic. A crowd-favorite vintage dessert you can make in 10 minutes!
Ingredients
1 package instant pistachio pudding mix
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in juice
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Maraschino cherries (for garnish)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix pistachio pudding mix with the entire can of crushed pineapple including the juice. Stir until well combined.
2. Fold in the Cool Whip and mini marshmallows. Gently mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
3. If using chopped pecans, fold them in at this stage.
4. Transfer to a serving bowl or dish and chill for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best texture.
5. Just before serving, garnish with maraschino cherries and extra pecans if desired.
Notes
This salad tastes even better when chilled overnight.
Use pineapple packed in juice, not syrup, for the best results.
If you want a nut-free version, simply skip the pecans.
