Ingredients
500g ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
400g tomato sauce
400g diced tomatoes
400g tomatoes with green chilies
400g kidney beans, drained and rinsed
400g pinto beans, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
250ml water
Instructions
1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess grease.
2. Add chopped onion, celery, and bell pepper. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomatoes with green chilies, kidney beans, and pinto beans.
4. Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour in water and stir to combine.
5. Bring to a low boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
6. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Add cayenne or hot sauce for more heat if desired.
Notes
Use lean ground beef to reduce fat content.
