Description

This creamy homemade tartar sauce recipe is the ultimate dipping companion for seafood and fries. Made with mayo, dill pickles, lemon juice, and capers, it delivers bold, zesty flavor and a smooth texture. Perfect for fish and chips, crab cakes, and shrimp tacos, this easy tartar sauce is fresher and more flavorful than store-bought.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon capers, chopped

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

1 tablespoon finely minced onion or shallot

pinch of salt

pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

1. Finely chop the dill pickles, parsley, and onion or shallot.

2. In a medium bowl, mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, chopped pickles, capers, parsley, and onion until well combined.

3. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper, then taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let it chill: The flavor improves as it sits, so make it ahead if you can.

Customize it: Add more lemon for tang or extra pickles for crunch.

Make it spicy: Stir in a bit of hot sauce or chopped jalapeño for heat.
