Ingredients
4 slices brioche or challah bread
4 oz cream cheese
2 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tbsp strawberry preserves
4 to 6 slices fresh strawberries (optional)
2 tbsp butter
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
2. Spread the cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice of bread.
3. Add strawberry preserves to two slices, and top with fresh strawberry slices if using.
4. Close the sandwiches with the other two slices, cream cheese side down.
5. Butter the outsides of both sandwiches.
6. Heat a skillet over medium-low and grill each sandwich 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
7. Let rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.
8. Serve warm or chill for a firmer texture.
Notes
Let the sandwich cool slightly before cutting to prevent the filling from oozing out.
Use day-old bread for better crisping and less sogginess.
Try different fruit preserves like raspberry or blueberry for variation.
