Description

Easy 5-Minute Smooth Hummus is a creamy homemade hummus recipe made with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and olive oil for a smooth, flavorful dip that is perfect for snacking, spreading, or serving with pita and fresh vegetables.


Ingredients

1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1/4 cup tahini

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 garlic clove

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 to 4 tablespoons cold water

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley


Instructions

1. Add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt to a food processor. Blend until creamy and well combined.

2. Add the chickpeas and olive oil, then blend until the mixture starts to break down.

3. With the processor running, add the cold water a little at a time until the hummus becomes smooth and fluffy.

4. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed, then blend again until fully creamy.

5. Taste and adjust the salt or lemon juice if needed.

6. Spoon into a serving bowl and finish with paprika, parsley, and a light drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Notes

For even smoother hummus, blend the tahini and lemon juice first before adding the chickpeas.

Add the cold water slowly so you can control the final texture.

This hummus thickens slightly in the fridge, so stir before serving and loosen with a splash of water if needed.
