Ingredients
4 cod filets
4 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Pat the cod filets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Add the cod filets and sear for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until golden and flaky. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
4. Reduce heat to medium, add butter to the skillet, and melt.
5. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
6. Add lemon juice and chopped parsley, stirring to combine.
7. Return cod to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Simmer for 1 minute.
8. Serve hot with extra lemon and parsley if desired.
Notes
Make sure the cod filets are well-dried before searing to avoid excess moisture.
Use fresh lemon juice, not bottled, for the best bright flavor.
Avoid overcooking the garlic; it should be fragrant, not browned or burnt.
