Description
This garlic butter rice recipe is fluffy, savory, and loaded with rich garlic flavor. A perfect quick and easy side dish, this buttery rice pairs well with grilled meats, creamy sauces, and roasted vegetables. It’s a one-pot weeknight favorite made with pantry staples and ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 cup long grain white rice
2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth or water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until lightly golden and fragrant, about 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Add the rinsed rice to the garlic butter and stir to coat. Toast the rice for 1 to 2 minutes to enhance the flavor.
4. Pour in the chicken broth (or water), add salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.
5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 15 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
6. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
7. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
You can swap chicken broth with vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice or grated Parmesan before serving.
Always rinse your rice well to keep it from turning mushy.
