Ingredients
1 lb ground chicken
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tbsp orange zest
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
2 green onions sliced
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
1 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions
1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add ground chicken breaking it apart as it cooks until browned and fully cooked.
2. Add garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. In a bowl whisk together orange juice orange zest soy sauce brown sugar rice vinegar sesame oil and cornstarch.
4. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir to coat the chicken evenly.
5. Let the mixture simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
6. Stir in red pepper flakes if using and taste to adjust seasoning.
7. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor and brightness.
Do not skip browning the chicken because caramelization adds depth.
If the sauce thickens too much add a splash of water or orange juice.
