Ingredients
0.25 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
0.5 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon sriracha
0.25 teaspoon five-spice powder
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, molasses, peanut butter, rice vinegar, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, sriracha, and five-spice powder.
2. Whisk continuously until the mixture becomes smooth and fully blended.
3. Let the sauce gently simmer for 3 to 5 minutes while stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry.
5. Slowly pour the slurry into the saucepan while whisking to avoid clumps.
6. Continue to cook for 1 to 2 more minutes until the sauce thickens.
7. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
8. Transfer to a clean jar and refrigerate. Use within 2 weeks.
Notes
This sauce thickens as it cools, so don’t over-reduce on the stove.
You can adjust sweetness with more or less honey or molasses.
Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
