Description

Homemade Peppermint Patties are a refreshing and chocolatey treat made with a creamy peppermint filling and smooth dark chocolate shell. This easy candy recipe is perfect for holidays, gifting, or indulgent snacking. Gluten-free, freezer-friendly, and packed with cool mint flavor.

Ingredients

2 cups powdered sugar

⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped

1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and peppermint extract. Stir until a thick dough forms.

2. Add more powdered sugar if the mixture is too sticky. It should be pliable and easy to handle.

3. Scoop out small portions and roll into balls. Flatten gently into patty shapes.

4. Place the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.

5. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together in a heat-safe bowl using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals. Stir until smooth.

6. Dip each frozen patty into the melted chocolate using a fork. Let excess drip off before setting them on parchment paper.

7. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.

8. Store patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

Keep patties frozen before dipping to prevent melting in the chocolate.

Use high-quality chocolate bars or melting wafers for best coating results.

Add a sprinkle of crushed candy cane for a festive twist.
