Description
This Lazy Biscuits & Gravy Breakfast Casserole is a Southern-style comfort breakfast made easy with canned biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs, and cheese. A make-ahead, crowd-pleasing breakfast bake perfect for holidays or lazy weekends.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated biscuits
1 pound pork sausage
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
4 large eggs
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Do not drain excess fat unless there’s too much.
3. Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage, stir, and cook for 1 minute to coat.
4. Gradually pour in milk while whisking. Simmer and stir until a thick gravy forms. Add salt and pepper.
5. Cut each biscuit into quarters and layer them evenly in the baking dish.
6. Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuits.
7. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and pour them over the top of the casserole.
8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over everything.
9. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden on top and set in the center.
10. Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
This casserole can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
Make sure the gravy is thick enough before layering.
Use flaky or buttermilk-style biscuits for best results.
