Description
This Mongolian Beef easy flavor packed stir fry is a quick, savory-sweet dinner made with tender flank steak, garlic, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Perfect for weeknights, this homemade takeout recipe is bold, caramelized, and comes together in under 30 minutes. Great for meal prep and pairs perfectly with rice or noodles.
Ingredients
0.75 lb flank steak
3 tablespoons cornstarch
0.25 cup soy sauce
0.25 cup brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
0.25 cup water
3 green onions, chopped
0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and coat with cornstarch. Let rest for 10 minutes.
2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, water, and red pepper flakes.
3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef in batches until browned and crispy, 2 minutes per side.
4. Add sauce to the skillet and let it simmer and thicken slightly. Return beef to the pan and toss to coat.
5. Stir in green onions and cook for another minute.
6. Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish if desired.
Notes
Let the beef sit after coating with cornstarch to ensure crispier edges.
Do not overcrowd the pan while searing—cook in batches for best results.
Adjust sugar and spice levels to match your taste.
