Ingredients
1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
1 pound ground pork sausage
1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 4-ounce can chopped green chiles, drained
3 large eggs
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate, pressing it evenly and fluting the edges. Chill while preparing filling.
3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
4. Evenly layer the cooked sausage in the chilled pie crust.
5. Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese over the sausage.
6. Add the chopped green chiles evenly over the cheese.
7. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and salt until smooth.
8. Pour the egg mixture gently over the sausage mixture in the crust.
9. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden.
10. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use a deep-dish pie pan if you want thicker slices.
To spice it up, choose hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne.
Letting it rest before slicing ensures cleaner cuts and better texture.
