Description

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons salt

½ teaspoon instant yeast

1 ½ cups warm water

1 cup grated Gouda cheese

2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill


Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and instant yeast.

2. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.

3. Fold in the grated Gouda and chopped dill until evenly distributed.

4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.

5. After rising, turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently shape into a ball.

6. Place the dough on parchment paper, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 to 2 hours.

7. Preheat your oven to 450°F with a Dutch oven inside.

8. Carefully transfer the dough (with parchment) into the Dutch oven.

9. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for 10–15 more minutes until golden brown.

10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Let the dough rest the full 18 hours for the best flavor.

Always use fresh dill for the brightest taste.

For a crisper crust, remove the bread from the pot and place it directly on the oven rack for the last 5 minutes.
