Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes recipe is the ultimate comfort food mash-up with savory ground beef, melted provolone, caramelized onions, and peppers on a toasted bun. A quick, one-skillet dinner packed with cheesesteak flavor and sloppy joe ease. Perfect for weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

3 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 cup chopped provolone cheese or shredded

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

6 toasted sandwich buns

Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess grease.

2. Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

3. Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Stir to combine.

4. Sprinkle cornstarch into the pan and stir well to eliminate lumps. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

5. Reduce heat to low and add the chopped or shredded provolone. Stir until melted and evenly combined.

6. Toast the sandwich buns lightly, then spoon the hot beef mixture onto the bottom halves. Top with the remaining bun halves and serve warm.

Notes

This recipe makes 4 to 6 sandwiches depending on bun size.

You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.

Add mushrooms or hot peppers for an extra layer of flavor.
