Description

Moist and flavorful pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting are the perfect fall dessert. Made with canned pumpkin, warm spices, and tangy frosting, these easy-to-make bars are ideal for sharing at parties or holiday gatherings. A must-try pumpkin dessert recipe.


Ingredients

1 cup pumpkin puree

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup vegetable oil

4 large eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

8 oz cream cheese

1/2 cup butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch pan.

2. In a large bowl, whisk pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs.

3. Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix until just combined.

4. Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.

5. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.

6. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.

7. Frost cooled bars evenly. Slice and serve.

8. Store in fridge up to 5 days or freeze unfrosted for 2 months.

Notes

This recipe is best made with canned pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie mix.

Bars are easiest to slice when chilled.

For a festive twist, sprinkle cinnamon or chopped pecans over the frosting.
