Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 cups cooked white rice
2 stalks green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
2. Drain any excess fat. Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3–5 minutes to let the flavors combine.
4. Warm the cooked rice if necessary and divide it into serving bowls.
5. Spoon the Korean ground beef mixture over the rice.
6. Top with green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Add a fried egg on top if desired.
7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
This dish is great with added vegetables like shredded carrots, zucchini, or spinach.
If using higher-fat beef, drain well to avoid a greasy sauce.
The beef freezes well for up to a month — perfect for meal prep.
