Description

These Red Velvet Cookie Bars are a chewy and fudgy dessert topped with rich cream cheese frosting. This easy red velvet dessert bar recipe combines classic red velvet flavor, a vibrant red color, and a soft texture perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime sweet cravings.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

0.5 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 tablespoons unsweetened natural cocoa powder

1 tablespoon red food coloring (gel preferred)

2 cups all-purpose flour

0.5 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon white vinegar

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Beat the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.

2. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until fully combined.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.

4. Stir in vinegar and mix just until incorporated.

5. Spread batter into a parchment-lined 9×13-inch baking pan.

6. Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.

7. Cool completely before frosting.

8. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.

9. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until frosting is creamy and spreadable.

10. Spread frosting over cooled bars, chill for 15 minutes, then slice and serve.

Notes

These bars taste best when slightly chilled for a firmer texture.

Use gel food coloring for a deeper, more vibrant red.

Let the frosting set before slicing to get clean edges.
