This easy holiday dessert is perfect for cookie swaps, kids’ parties, or edible gifting. A fun and creative Christmas brownie idea for beginners and families alike.
Ingredients
1 batch brownie batter
1 cup red frosting
¼ cup black decorating gel or black fondant
12 mini yellow or gold candies
2 tablespoons white frosting or white sprinkles
½ cup butter or oil
2 large eggs
Instructions
1. Prepare brownie batter according to box or homemade recipe instructions. Pour into a greased or lined square baking pan.
2. Bake as directed until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
3. Cut cooled brownies into 9 or 12 equal squares. Wipe knife between cuts for clean edges.
4. Spread or pipe red frosting on top of each square to represent Santa’s coat. Let set.
5. Add a strip of black decorating gel or fondant across the center to form Santa’s belt.
6. Press one yellow or gold candy in the center of the belt to make a buckle.
7. Use white frosting or sprinkles to add buttons or fur trim. Let decorations set before serving.
Notes
These brownies are best made with a fudgy recipe so they hold their shape.
Decorate only after the brownies have cooled completely to avoid melted frosting.
Use gel-based coloring in the frosting for a bold red that won’t bleed.
