Description

Smothered Turkey Wings Gravy is a comforting Southern classic with slow-baked turkey wings in rich onion gravy. Perfect for Sunday dinners or holiday meals, this easy turkey wings recipe is tender, flavorful, and great for feeding a crowd. Discover how to make turkey wings fall-off-the-bone delicious with pantry staples.

Ingredients

4 to 5 turkey wings

1 ½ teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 large yellow onions, sliced

¼ cup all-purpose flour

3 cups chicken broth

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Pat turkey wings dry and season all over with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil and brown the turkey wings on all sides until golden.

4. Remove the wings and set aside. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until soft and golden.

5. Sprinkle in flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.

6. Slowly whisk in chicken broth until smooth. Let it simmer until the gravy thickens.

7. Transfer the turkey wings to a large baking dish and pour the gravy and onions over them.

8. Cover with foil and bake for 2 to 2½ hours, or until wings are very tender.

9. Remove foil and bake uncovered for the last 15 minutes to thicken the gravy further.

10. Serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite Southern sides.

Notes

Use fresh or thawed wings for best flavor and texture.

For richer gravy, add a splash of heavy cream or a pat of butter before baking.

Optional: Add mushrooms or chopped bell peppers with the onions for extra depth.
