Ingredients

12 oz egg noodles

1 ½ lb Swedish meatballs (cooked or thawed if frozen)

4 tbsp butter

4 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 cup sour cream

½ cup heavy cream

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Boil the egg noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for 1 minute to form a roux.

3. Slowly whisk in the beef broth until smooth and thickened.

4. Stir in sour cream, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce heat through until creamy.

5. Add the meatballs to the sauce and stir gently to coat. Let them simmer for 5 minutes.

6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

7. In a large baking dish, mix the cooked noodles with the meatball mixture until evenly combined.

8. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

This recipe reheats well for next-day leftovers.

You can substitute turkey or chicken meatballs for a lighter option.

Make the sauce extra savory by adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of soy sauce.
