Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red gel food coloring
1 teaspoon white vinegar
¼ cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease it.
2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until glossy.
3. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla, red gel food coloring, and vinegar.
4. Sift in cocoa powder and salt. Stir to combine, then fold in the flour until no streaks remain.
5. Pour into prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 25–28 minutes until the center is set.
6. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
These brownies taste even better the next day as the flavors settle.
For an extra treat, swirl in cream cheese before baking.
Don’t overbake—moist crumbs on a toothpick mean they’re perfectly fudgy.
