Ingredients
1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot water or hot coffee
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Add wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just combined.
5. Slowly pour in the hot water or coffee while whisking until batter is smooth and thin.
6. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
