Description

Baked Pears with Feta Honey Cranberries is an easy sweet and savory pear recipe made with tender baked pears, creamy feta, tart cranberries, and warm honey for a simple appetizer, elegant side dish, or holiday starter.

Ingredients

2 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored

1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese

1/4 cup dried cranberries

2 tablespoons honey, plus more for finishing

1 teaspoon olive oil

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small baking dish.

2. Cut the pears in half lengthwise and scoop out the cores with a spoon or melon baller.

3. Arrange the pear halves cut side up in the baking dish so they stay steady while baking.

4. Drizzle the pears with olive oil and honey, then sprinkle with cinnamon and black pepper.

5. Top each pear half with crumbled feta, dried cranberries, and chopped walnuts or pecans if using.

6. Scatter the fresh thyme over the top.

7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the pears are tender and the feta is slightly softened.

8. Remove from the oven and drizzle with a little extra honey before serving warm.

Notes

Use firm pears such as Bosc or Anjou so they hold their shape while baking.

Do not overbake, or the pears can become too soft and fall apart.

For extra texture, add the nuts during the last few minutes if you want them to stay crunchier.
