Description

This easy homemade tartar sauce recipe is creamy, tangy, and perfect for seafood. Made with mayonnaise, dill pickles, lemon juice, and herbs, it’s the best tartar sauce for fish, shrimp, or veggies.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles or relish

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped capers (optional)

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill or parsley

Pinch salt

Pinch black pepper

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped pickles or relish, and Dijon mustard.

2. Add the lemon juice, capers if using, and chopped fresh herbs.

3. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

4. Stir everything well until evenly combined.

5. Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.

6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.

Let the sauce chill so the flavors blend properly.

You can substitute sweet relish if you prefer a sweeter version.
