Description

Honey Pepper Chicken is a sweet and savory chicken dinner made with juicy pan seared chicken, sticky honey garlic sauce, bold black pepper, and simple pantry ingredients for an easy weeknight meal everyone will love.

Ingredients

2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/3 cup cornstarch

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1/2 cup honey

1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper, plus more for serving

1/4 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

1. Pat the chicken dry and cut it into even bite sized pieces. Season with salt, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder, then toss with the cornstarch until lightly coated.

2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, working in batches if needed, until golden and cooked through.

3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, cracked black pepper, chicken broth, and apple cider vinegar.

4. Lower the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, pour in the sauce and stir for 2 to 3 minutes until it starts to bubble and thicken.

5. Return all the chicken to the skillet and toss well so every piece is coated in the glossy honey pepper sauce. Cook for 1 more minute, then top with sliced green onions and extra black pepper before serving.

Notes

Use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts if you want an even juicier result.

Freshly cracked black pepper gives the sauce the best bold flavor, so it is worth using here.

Serve this over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles to catch every bit of the sauce.
