Description

Jalapeño Popper Twists are a flaky, cheesy appetizer made with puff pastry, cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, and jalapeños for the perfect savory snack. These easy jalapeño popper twists are crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle, and ideal for parties, game day, holiday platters, or quick homemade appetizers.


Ingredients

2 sheets puff pastry, thawed

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 jalapeños, finely chopped

6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds, optional


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined.

3. Lightly flour your work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheets. Roll each sheet gently to smooth out the seams.

4. Spread the filling evenly over each pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.

5. Fold each pastry sheet in half over the filling and press gently to seal.

6. Cut each folded sheet into strips of equal size using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

7. Twist each strip several times and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.

8. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if using.

9. Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

10. Let the twists cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Use gloves when chopping jalapeños if you have sensitive skin.

Keep the puff pastry cold while working so the twists bake up flaky.

For milder twists, remove all the jalapeño seeds and membranes before mixing the filling.
