Description
Rich and Creamy Homemade Alfredo Sauce is a smooth, cheesy, garlic butter sauce made with heavy cream and Parmesan for a classic homemade pasta sauce that is perfect for fettuccine, chicken, shrimp, and easy comfort food dinners.
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
1. Melt the butter in a skillet or saucepan over medium-low heat.
2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Pour in the heavy cream and stir well.
4. Let the mixture warm gently for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often.
5. Reduce the heat to low and add the Parmesan cheese a little at a time, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
6. Season with salt and black pepper.
7. Simmer for 1 to 2 minutes more until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
8. Remove from the heat and stir in parsley if using.
9. Serve immediately over hot pasta, chicken, shrimp, or vegetables.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for the smoothest texture and best flavor.
Keep the heat low once the cheese is added so the sauce stays silky and does not separate.
If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in a splash of warm pasta water, milk, or cream before serving.
