Description

Saint Patrick’s Day Puppy Chow is a festive no bake snack made with Chex cereal, chocolate, peanut butter, powdered sugar, and green candies for an easy holiday dessert that is crunchy, sweet, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

9 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup green M&M’s or green candy coated chocolates

2 tablespoons green sprinkles

1 pinch salt

Instructions

1. Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a very large mixing bowl and set aside a large zip top bag or container with a lid.

2. Add the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in short intervals, stirring between each one, until smooth.

3. Stir the vanilla extract and salt into the melted chocolate mixture.

4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold until the cereal is evenly coated.

5. Transfer the coated cereal to the bag or container, add the powdered sugar, and shake gently until fully coated.

6. Spread the puppy chow onto a parchment lined tray and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes.

7. Toss in the green candies and green sprinkles once the mixture has cooled.

8. Serve right away or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Let the coated cereal cool before adding the candies and sprinkles so the colors stay bright and the candy shells do not melt.

Shake the powdered sugar in batches if needed so every piece gets coated without crushing the cereal.

Store the puppy chow in an airtight container at room temperature for the best crunch.
