Description
Santa’s Trash Cookie Bars are soft, chewy Christmas cookie bars loaded with pretzels, chocolate chips, white chocolate, and festive candy-coated chocolates for the ultimate sweet and salty holiday dessert.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups mini pretzels, roughly crushed
1 cup red and green candy-coated chocolates
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/4 cup holiday sprinkles
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
6. Fold in the crushed pretzels, candy-coated chocolates, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and most of the sprinkles.
7. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan and press the remaining mix-ins over the top.
8. Bake for 24 to 28 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the center is just set.
9. Cool completely before slicing into bars and serving.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for a smoother dough and better texture.
Do not overmix once the flour is added or the bars can turn dense.
Let the bars cool fully before slicing so they hold their shape cleanly.
