Description

Sweet Heart Jam Cookies are buttery, tender thumbprint-style cookies filled with fruity jam and shaped with a charming heart center, making them perfect for Valentine’s Day, holiday cookie trays, tea parties, and easy homemade dessert baking.


Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2/3 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup raspberry or strawberry jam

2 tablespoons powdered sugar, optional


Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and creamy.

2. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and salt, then mix until smooth and fully combined.

3. Gradually add the flour and mix just until a soft dough forms.

4. Cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes.

5. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6. Roll the dough into small balls, place them on the baking sheet, and flatten each one slightly.

7. Press a shallow heart shape into the center of each cookie without going all the way through.

8. Spoon a small amount of jam into each heart indentation.

9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and lightly golden.

10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

11. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.

Notes

Use a thick jam so the centers stay neat and glossy during baking.

Chilling the dough helps the cookies keep their shape and makes the heart centers easier to form.

Do not overbake or the cookies can lose their tender buttery texture.
