Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent dough
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 large egg
Nonstick spray or butter for the pan
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a mini muffin pan.
2. Unroll the crescent dough and cut it into small squares or rounds.
3. Press each piece of dough into the mini muffin cups to form small shells.
4. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cooked sausage, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, black pepper, and egg until smooth and combined.
5. Spoon the filling into each dough cup, filling almost to the top.
6. Bake for 13 to 16 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the filling is set.
7. Let the bites cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing.
8. Serve warm or reheat before serving.
Notes
Do not overfill the pastry cups or the filling may spill over while baking.
Softened cream cheese mixes much more smoothly and gives the filling a better texture.
These bites reheat well in the oven or air fryer, which helps keep the pastry from turning soggy.
