Description
White Garlic Pizza Sauce is a creamy, homemade pizza sauce made with butter, fresh garlic, milk, and parmesan cheese for a rich, flavorful white sauce that is perfect for pizza, flatbread, dipping, and easy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring often, until fragrant.
3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until the mixture looks smooth.
4. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking constantly to keep the sauce smooth.
5. Continue whisking for 2 to 4 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.
6. Stir in the parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
7. Cook for 1 to 2 more minutes until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
8. Remove from the heat and let the sauce cool slightly before spreading on pizza dough.
Notes
This sauce makes enough for about 2 medium pizzas or 1 large pizza with a generous layer.
If the sauce thickens too much after sitting, whisk in a small splash of milk before using.
For a deeper flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
